A Hammond man, Charles Garcia-Berrios, 33, was sentenced to a six-year split term as a getaway driver in the death of a 50-year-old pawn shop owner in Gary. The incident occurred at We Buy Gold, 3720 Broadway Ave, with the victim found shot in the back of the head. Garcia-Berrios denied knowing the victim was likely dead when he drove the shooter, Derek Sanders, home. Sanders was sentenced to 45 years for murder.
